Awww... <sniff!>

That was where I first ran NetRexx, and wrote the first SHARE
presentation on it, created the first commercial NetRexx training
class, and ... <sniff!>

I still have the ThinkPad I did all that on, with Warp4 still on it,
powered up and running.  Haven't touched the NetRexx installation on
it in, um, more than a decade, but it's still there and worked the
last I checked.  Some things are harder than others to let go of... :-/

Re: [netrexx~netrexxc-repo:584] removed OS/2 command scripts from Redbook samples

Yes, me too. I remember the day I had to move from a 4MB OS/2 box to a 64MB NT box, and had slightly worse performance.

It became just too confusing to have those .cmd files around.

I still run eComstation in VirtualBox. I recently tested NetRexx on it, and will do so again before releasing 3.04. I might figure out how to attach it to Jenkins, which would be fun, if only to publish the daily testresults on OS/2. It is one of the reasons we did not bump to Java 7, I am not sure such a thing exists for OS/2.

best regards,

René.

It would appear that you might be getting OpenJDK 8 for OS/2...

That certainly is good news. I might install sshd and have the build and test suite running on OS/2 then after all.

3.04 RC1 Documentation Proofreading

Jeff Hennick
In reply to this post by Aviatrexx
The NetRexx Language Reference, Version 3.04 RC1 of May 24, 2015:

On page 35, almost to the bottom, speaking of line comments, the two
adjacent hyphens have been merged by the word processor program into a
single em-dash.

Re: 3.04 RC1 Documentation Proofreading

Hi Jeff,

thank you and well spotted. I have refreshed the documents in the package I already made for release. It was a less than trivial problem, by the way - the typographical inclination of Latex was hard to surmount. For the interested, see the content of rev. 589. This was the last fix going into the package. I’m afraid the Pipes issues including the manual, will have to wait for the daily builds of NetRexx 4.00.

best regards,

René.

No matter how much time the Pipes issues have to wait, I think all of
the community have to thank You and Kermit
for the excellent management and support of the NetRexx Language as
such! Release 3.04 sounds as a perfect
way to go on to 4.00 :-)

Thanks a lot from Vienna, Thomas Schneider

For the record, I had no intention or expectation or delaying the
imminent release to address the packaging issue(s).  They are of
greater significance/impact than a dot-level release and should not be
tossed in at the last minute.

I'm sure they will arise again before 4.00 is locked down.

Hi Chip,

thanks. Don’t worry. We’ll discuss this after 3.04 is GA. Which, I think, is in a few minutes.

best regards,

René.
